Imarti is a popular Rajasthani sweet which has only 4 ingredients which makes delicious crispy imartis.
It is very similar to jalebis. You can serve it hot or cold as per your preference. This is one of the most devoured dishes during the festive season.
PREPARATION TIME:10 mins.
INGREDIENTS.
2cups urad dal/ husked Bengal gram.
2 cups of sugar.
1 tbsp saffron color.
1/2 tbsp ground cardamom.
1 tsp Kesar
LET'S GET STARTED.....!!!!
COOKING TIME:30mins.
STEP1: Take two cups of urad dal wash and soak it for about 3-4 hours. Rinse the soaked urad dal and grind the dal using freshwater. Grind it well, add water as required.
STEP2: Once the grinding is done use a whisk to mix it so that the paste becomes a bit lighter.
STEP3: Add 1 tbsp of saffron color and mix it well.
STEP4: You can use a piping bag as I have used or the traditional way by using a cloth. Using a piping bag is less messy. Set it aside for 15-20 mins.
STEP5: Take a pan, add 2 cups of sugar and 1 and 1/2 cups of water,1/2 tbsp of cardamom, and Kesar to prepare the sugar syrup.
STEP6: Take a kadhai to add oil/ ghee to fry the imartis. If the shape is difficult you can shape them as jalebis as I have done.
STEP7: Add the jalebis/ imartis to the sugar syrup and let them sit for 2-3 mins. Garnish with almonds or cashews. You can serve it hot with rabadi.
