Gulab Jamun is a delicious Indian sweet prepared during the festive season, weddings, and several occasions. Gulab Jamun is made with khoya or milk solids which are made by evaporated milk. This recipe is made with instant homemade khoya. This recipe is a detailed step by step guide to making yummy Gulab Jamun.
PREPARATION TIME:10 mins
INGREDIENTS.
1 tbsp of ghee
1 cup of milk powder
3/4 cup of milk.
1 and 1/2 cup of sugar.
3 pods of elachi/ cardemom.
1/2 tsp of kesar/ saffron.
1 tbsp of rose water.
1 tbsp of lemon juice.
1 cup maida/ all-purpose flour.
1/2 tbsp of baking soda.
COOKING TIME: 30 mins.
STEP1: Take a pan to add 1 tbsp of ghee, 1 cup of milk powder, and 3/4 cup of milk and keep on mixing. The mixture starts to thicken and stops sticking to the pan. Remove the khoya from the pan and let it cool. Instant khoya is ready.
STEP2: Once the khoya has cooled add 1 cup of maida and 1/2 tbsp of baking soda and mix it well until combined. Form a dough-like consistency and let it sit for 5 mins.
STEP 3: Make small balls out of the dough and let it sit for 2 mins. Make sure that there are no cracks. And fry them.
STEP4: For the sugar syrup take 1.5 cups of water, 1.5 cup of sugar,3 pods of elachi, and 1/2 tbsp of Kesar and let it boil. Once the sugar is dissolved add 1 tbsp of rose water and 1 tbsp of lemon juice so that the sugar does not crystalize.
STEP5: Fry the balls and add them to the syrup and let it sit in the syrup for about 2 hours.
STEP6: Serve them hot or cold as per your preference.
