The baked vegetable is a slightly modified version of Au Gratin, an internationally acclaimed technique of baking vegetables with a garnish of cheese. Here is a recipe which has a lot of assorted vegetables mixed with white creamy sauce and garnished with a layer of cheese, and is baked until the cheese forms a gooey layer of cheese on the top! It can be served with garlic bread which balances the creamy taste of the sauce.
PREPARATION TIME:10mins.
INGREDIENTS.
1/2 cup green beans.
1/2 cup carrots.
1/2 cup boiled corn.
1/2 cup boiled peas.
3 tsp butter.
6 tsp all-purpose flour.
3 cups milk.
6 medium-sized garlic cloves(grated).
3 tsp oregano.
3 tsp chili flakes
3 tsp mixed herbs.
3 cubes of cheese.
salt and sugar.
2 tsp vegetable oil.
COOKING TIME:20mins.
PREPARATION OF THE WHITE SAUCE.
STEP1: Take a pan or kadhai add 3 tsp of butter let it melt.
STEP2: Add 6 tsp of all-purpose flour simultaneously and keep on mixing it.
STEP3: Once the flour and butter are totally combined add milk in portions so that there are no lumps formed keep on mixing.
STEP4: Once the mixture starts to thicken add 1 tsp oregano, 1 tsp chili flakes, 1 tsp mixed herbs, salt, and sugar according to your taste. (here I have added 1 tsp of salt and 2 tsp of sugar)
STEP5: Mix all the condiments together and set it aside.
PREPARATION OF THE VEGETABLES.
STEP6: Take a pan or kadhai, add 2 tsp of oil and let it boil, add 1 tsp of grated garlic to the oil saute it for about 2 mins.
STEP7: Add 1/2 cup green beans, 1/2 cup carrots, 1/2 cup corn, and 1/2 cup peas saute them for about 6-8 mins add 1 tsp of salt to the vegetables.
STEP 8:Once the vegetables are done add the prepared white sauce to the vegetables and mix well.
STEP9: Transfer the mix to a glass bowl and add a generous layer of grated cheese on top. Put it in the oven for about 10 mins at 200 degrees C.(Pre-heat the oven at 200 degrees for 5 mins)
STEP10: Serve it piping hot will some garlic bread.
