A long time back I visited a topnotch restaurant with a bunch of friends for lunch and we ended up ordering a dish which was served with a pale looking side dish which was not at all appealing to the eyes, I took a bite and it was a smooth creamy textured paste which had a different taste which was surprisingly nice. I had heard the name quite often but never had an opportunity to taste one. My first experience was good enough that I wanted to try making it by myself rather than buying the ones sold in the stores. I went through the internet and found that the recipe was quite simple and can be made with ingredients found at home. This homemade hummus and tahini recipe is quick and easy to make, it delivers the flavorful tastes which keep you longing for more!
With these few easy steps, you can make your favorite hummus better than the store brought ones.
PREPARATION TIME: 10mins. INGREDIENTS
2 cups overnight soaked and boiled chickpeas / Kabuli chana.
2 tablespoon sesame seeds.
2 fresh squeezed lemons.
2-3 tablespoon olive oil.
5-6 medium-sized garlic cloves.
3-4 tbsp of white sesame seeds.
2 tbsp of salt.
COOKING TIME:30mins.
STEP1: Separate the chickpeas from the whey and remove the covering of the chickpeas to get a smooth paste. Save 1 cup of whey water for later use.
STEP2: For the tahini sauce saute 3-4 tbsp of sesame seeds, add it to a blender with 1/4 cup of olive oil. Blend it until it forms a paste.
STEP3: Add 2 cups of chickpeas, 2 tbsp of salt, 2 freshly squeezed lemons, 5-6 cloves of garlic cloves, and 2-3 tbsp of tahini sauce. Little by little add the whey to get a smooth paste.
STEP4: Add a dash of olive oil and you can also garnish it with chili flakes and oregano. And your easy homemade hummus recipe with tahini is ready!
