Veg momos are one of my favorites. This is my take on momos and is a little spicy for a few people but you can add the seasoning according to your preference. I fell in love with momos when I first had it in Nanital and since then have been making momos for my friends and family. hope you like it! let's get started.
PREPARATION TIME: 15mins.
INGREDIENTS.
1 cup of shredded carrots.
1 cup of shredded cauliflower.
1 cup of finely chopped onion.
1 cup of spring onions.
4-5 cloves of garlic (minced).
1 tbsp soya sauce.
2 tbsp red chili sauce.
1 tsp red chili powder.
salt as per taste.
2 tbsp cooking oil
COOKING TIME: 20mins.
LET'S GET STARTED....!!
STEP1: Tap a pan add 2 tbsp of oil add the minced garlic and let it get a little brown.
STEP2: Add onions to the pan and saute them for about 2 mins.
STEP3: Once the onions are sauteed add 1 cup of shredded carrots and cauliflower and saute them for another 2-3 mins.
STEP4: Add 1 tbsp of soya sauce, 1 tbsp of red chili powder, and 2 tbsp of red chili sauce and salt as per taste ( you can reduce the spice level by not adding the red chili powder or by just adding 1 tbsp of red chili sauce.)
STEP5: Mix the seasonings well, then add the spring onions and mix them well.
STEP 6: Transfer it to a container and let it cool at room temperature.
STEP7: Prepare the dough for the outer cover of the momos by taking 1 cup of all-purpose flour/maida, add 1 tbsp of salt and mix it well and let it sit for 5 mins.
STEP8: Roll out the dough in a small circle and add the filling in the center and start molding the dough in the shape of a "modak".
STEP9: Grease the plate with some oil so that the momos do not stick to the plate. Add the momos to the steamer and let it cook for 5- 10 mins.
STEP10: Serve them hot with momo chutney and mayonnaise.
